Be the Light
I believe there is good in all of us. I believe we are all striving to make a difference in our own little corner of this world. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the journey others are taking and we may not be able to relate at all, but I believe it is our privilege to honor and respect the journey, regardless. I believe God has a perfect plan for every single one of us and we are all placed right where we are supposed to be, right at this time. It is His perfect plan and His perfect timing. We are in the midst of great turmoil in our country and it can get so disheartening to listen to the news or read social media. Whether it's about race, gender, politics, etc., anger and hatred are spewed everywhere. It would be so easy to hop right into it all, point fingers, and raise our voices. I think we can all agree, though, that taking that road will only lead us to more pain. I am friends with many people who have opposing views and guess what? I love them. I don't agree or even understand sometimes, just as they would say the same for me, but I love them. Because above all else, love wins.
"Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins."
1 Peter 4:8
We have this awesome honor of being able to share love and light with the world around us. We have the free will to take the high road, to set all differences aside and just love each other. I imagine the kind of love and light I feel when I am surrounded by my closest people who care so deeply for me and I for them. My heart just fills with joy. Now imagine how your neighbor down the street would feel if that same care and love was extended to them. Or how your community could be impacted by that same show of love and care. We have the ability to reach so much farther, friends. It doesn't have to be a huge act. Start small and watch the ripple effect.
Paul's Thanksgiving and Prayer
"I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people. And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God's people."
-Philemon 1:4-7
Friends, the turmoil and pain is not going to end if we don't actively seek to change it. We are not going to change it by shouting louder to prove our point or pointing fingers at those who do not agree with us. That is what's happening now and it's simply not working. God's got this. He is bigger than any turmoil we face in this world. We just have to believe. I challenge you to make a conscious effort to:
Be the Light
Share your love
Believe there is good in every single person
Be Light, Be Love, Believe.
