I feel like I was on my reading “A Game” this month! I enjoyed every book I read and couldn’t get enough of them. I only wish I had time to read more! It definitely helps me calm the chaos that my house can sometimes be! ;) So, without further ado…

The Jetsetters, by Amanda Eyre Ward - I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars and give it a PG-13 rating. I touched on this book in a previous post, but will go into further detail here. Of the 3 books I read this month, this one was my least favorite. I liked it, but I didn’t go through it with as much excitement as the others. I think that is partly because there are a lot of difficult themes in it. It isn’t a difficult read, but it is an emotionally loaded one. This book revolved around the lives of Charlotte Perkins and her adult children, Lee, Cord, and Regan. All four are dealing with issues of their own, but are too proud to admit their problems to each other. When Charlotte wins an essay contest, her prize is a cruise. She invites her children and it become quite a tumultuous adventure. This book touches on sexual orientation, alcoholism/sobriety, infidelity, loneliness, career failure, and communication issues. At the core of it all is a dysfunctional family that longs for more, but can’t admit it.

All Your Perfects, by Colleen Hoover - I love Colleen Hoover’s books and this one was no exception! I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, but be warned that it would be rated R for quite a few sex scenes. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. Again, it was an emotionally loaded book as it’s major theme was infertility and the toll it takes on marriage. This book starts with Quinn and Graham, two strangers, brought together by a life-altering discovery that is devastating. After time, they meet again unexpectedly and so begins a beautiful life together…until it’s not. This book is both heartbreaking and beautiful. I devoured this book in a day and was sad when it was over.

And my absolute favorite of the month…

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird, by Josie Silver - 5 out of 5 stars and a PG-13 rating. You guys!!! I loved this book so much that I plan on reading her other book this month! This book is beautiful, then heartbreaking and fragile, then beautiful again. As suggested in the title, this book is about Lydia Bird, her fiance Freddie, and his best friend Jonah. After receiving the worst news of her life, Lydia is thrust into a world where she has two choices - to return to a world that only she is aware of with Freddie in it or move on and heal in her real life. What follows is a powerful love story with a beautiful ending! You’ll have to read to find out which world she chooses! ;)

This month I will be reading One Day In December, by Josie Silver and The Push, by Ashley Audrain! I will have a lot of time to read as we will be spending a week on the beach in Florida, so please send me any book recommendations you have!!

Until next time, just be.

Lindy
